Dining Room Lighting

Before... Disclaimer: I did not have any hand in putting this ugly thing in the place to begin with :)

After... It's hard to capture the coolness of it with my lack of photography skills, but it looks "Smashing!" with the table.

Above this table...

Memorial Weekend 08

It was a nice relaxing weekend! What did you do for Memorial Day?
I unpacked more boxes, went swimming, and ran a 5K. It was my very first. I'd like to do it again. I'm not the full on marathon type, this was just my size! I ran with hubby and puppy :). It was a church sponsered 5K run and free breakfast afterward. Sorry, no sweaty pics of myself to show.

picture from here

I also watched p.s. I love you It was so good! I wouldn't consider myself a cryer during movies, but I bawled my way through this one, so much so I needed kleenex on more then one occasion. Hillary Swank does an excellent job of showing true emotion. It hit closer to home then I thought it would, the portrayal of losing a much loved spouse. It made me even more greatful for my man. It's available to rent, WATCH IT!! Oh and I loved her apartment and fashion in the movie!

David Cook

This is who I was rooting for, since the top 10 or so. All around talent, his songs don't sound the same every week. The man can sing anything and do wonders with songs. Other favs- Always be my baby, Billie Jean, Music of the Night.

My favorite: All I Really Need Is You

Pillow Talk

I have been on the hunt for a new throw pillow, as you can see my pillows on my couch are solid. I wanted to bring a little more texture and design into the room with a print. Trouble is, I can NEVER find throw pillows with both sage and purple in them. Here is the lastest find from Pier 1. Found it while "Hook Mirror Shopping" Hubby said, "um... It looks Brown." :)
What do you think?

Cosmo (puppy) won't leave it alone!

The vines are sage green, tops of the flowers purple, and the background chocolate.

I'm on the Hunt!

WANTED: "Entry mirror with hooks". Have you seen any good ones that are reasonably priced? Do share!! I need it for our entry. I want a mirror and hooks, and it would be even better if it had slots on below the mirror for bills etc, with hooks on the outside of the slots, but doesn't have to. Make sense? I can't even find a picture of what I'm talking about, but I've seen them in peoples homes. Here are some basics without the slots. It would be great to hang the dog leash and keys on (I have a habit of losing my keys).

This one's from Target. In real life its super small (too small) but does look sharp)

I like the look of this but it's $140. Looking for something cheaper.

I have looked at Target, Home Goods, Ross, Kohls, JCPenney's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn, and all over the internet. Honestly these are the only ones I found. If you have insider knowledge on where to find them, let me know!!

Back in the Saddle

My bike bucked me off this week (not the first time), resulting in skinned knee and hand+lots of bruises. They say when you get bucked off, you gotta get right back on. This picture makes me want to take puppy on a nice long bike ride this weekend.

Would love to hang the umbrella picture in my house, a bathroom maybe?

Bamboo Necklace

Hats off to Deborah Dee and her great idea! I commend those who come up with cool creative original ideas. I first saw this over at Makingitlovely.com. Deborah uses a bamboo place matt to make creative beads/necklaces/pendants. Take a looksy...

White, It's Our Color

Both cars we have are white, so our goal was to choose another color (we like black but it gets too dang hot in Florida in the Summer), but the white civic looked the sharpest. So we are the proud new owners of a white Honda Civic. We have 50 miles on our car and the fuel gage still reads completely full. For that sheer fact alone I'm in love with this car (other reasons too). Reading more about them, there is practically no maitenance. THANKS for all your input on my previous post!

On kind of a funny note: When we drove it off the lot I asked hubby:
"Do you just LOVE your new car!?"
He replied, "Eh, I like it", moment of silence.
Me: "What?! We didn't pay this much money for you to "Like" it."
Hubby: (refferring to his 1993 BMW we traded in for the civic)
"I just gave away my baby, I loved that car, I will love this one, I just need time."
tehe. tehe. made me smile :)

Latest Jewelry Finds

Moseying around on my lunch break I found a bead/jewelry store, near my office. I have one word to describe it, DANGEROUS! All the stones in there are real, they have walls and walls, divided by color. It's a jewelry lover's dream come true. I couldn't resist the temptation, and bought these stones. Hubby couldn't understand why I couldn't resist. Wouldn't this be a gorgeous necklace! You buy the stones then if you want to take a jewelry making class it's $10 and they teach you everything you need to know and how to string up your jewels, or you they will make the piece for you for about $20. When I finally left they had to wipe my drool off the floor :) Next I want to go back and get some gorgeous Onyx stones.

Note: I want some turquoise jewelry. A strand of turquoise was over $100. This is dyed Hawlite, which is a natural stone too, but about a quarter of the cost. Could you tell? I just received a cool turquoise ring as a gift, that will go very nicely with the necklace.

How to store that jewelry?

Calling all Jewelry feigns- I have been LOVING this! It hangs in your closet with your clothes and has small plastic pouches you put all your jewelry in. It is an excellent use of space!! I have kept my jewelery in a small 3 drawer plastic organizing container. As my jewelry collection has grown everything gets tangled and mixed up, what a pain! Now I can have more space on my dresser and keep all the jewelry organized and separate. I might have to get a second, I've only put a few pieces in here, but am afraid when I finally switch it all over, it'll be full. One of the best investments I've made in a long time.

Happy Birthday Cosmo!

When we first got him...

Now.

It's kind of sad, my little puppy is growing up! :) Cosmo turned 1 year on Friday May 9. I was gonna invite some friends over for a big doggy play wrestle session, but ran out of time. So I got him a gift (he always chases squirrels, his goal in life is to catch one, so I thought it appropirate for him to have one all his own to chew on), and he had "ice cream cake" Publix (grocery) has doggie ice cream in little cups. So we got him some for his birthday. below are some after pictures with it all over his face. Not having kids yet, he's a big part of my world! Thanks, for humoring this post :)

Happy Mothers Day Beach Bum Style

What does the Lowe family fo for mother's day? Go to the beach for a week of course! Grandma on down through the generation of mom's in the familly are all invited to the condo on the beach. I can only go Sat night and Sunday (dang that whole "be responsible and have a job" thing!) You see, the Lowe women decided to stop relying on the men in the family to show appreciation, and took matters into their own hands. What did they want to do? Eat seafood, read magazines/books, relax, walk on the beach and have loads of girl talk! Smart women these Lowe's! Glad I can be a part of it.

P.S. Florida has the best beaches! They are clean and breathtaking! Here's a sneak peak...

Camry

Isn't that a cute baby girl name? anyways~ We're needing a new car. This is what I want. Love the new body design. Anyone have any of these cars with feedback for me? We need somewhat fuel efficient.

But we'll probably get the Corolla (different color)
or ...the good ol' civic

Bumble and Bumble

My sisinlaw Rachel first introduced me to bumble and bumble shampoo/conditioner, many moons ago. I've been too cheap to buy it until now. This weekend I bought my very own :) All the different kinds sound so wonderful, it's hard to decide which one to get. It's the best shampoo I've used thus far if my memory serves me correctly. I'll update in a week whether I'm still in love. I better still be in love, 8 oz. bottle =$20-$26 !! I know, I know, some think I'm crazy to pay so much, but since moving to Florida, my hair has been wacky and weird. I figure why not try the best (bumble and bumble) to fix the worst (my hair :) Ok, it's not that bad, but not as nice as it used to be living in the west ). The best hairdresser I've ever had, a genius with hair, who I had to leave behind in utah (tear, sniff sniff), said the best she's found yet is Bumble and Bumble. No build up on the hair. She said her second choice is Redkin, which I've used for years, but my locks are ready for some different hopefully better kind of lovin'.

Summer Skirt

Lovin this skirt from Purl Bee! The maker said it took 2 hours from start to finish. Find the pattern on their site. Just think the sky is the limit for fabric to be used on this pattern. Oh the possibilities...
